SRINAGAR, Nov 2: While as security forces have eliminated atleast four militants in two different operations in Kashmir valley since last evening, unidentified gunmen this evening shot dead a released militant of Al-Omar Mujahideen outfit at Dyarwani, Batmaloo, in the capital city here. Abandon terrorism in JK, India tells Pak

NEW DELHI, Nov 2: In a clear snub to Pakistani military ruler Pervez Musharraf for his remarks on Indo-Pak relations, India today asserted that while it did not wish to match any stridency of language, it was for Islamabad to facilitate a restoration of trust by abandoning its state- sponsored cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere in the country. Without attempting to match any stridency of language, there is need to draw attention to India’s abiding desire to build a relationship of peace and friendship with Pakistan based on principles,’’an External Affairs Ministry spokesman told reporters.....more

Taliban suggests watch on Laden by islamic team

Osama bin LadenISLAMABAD, Nov 2: Facing UN sanctions over terrorism suspect Osama bin Laden, Afghanistan’s Taliban movement was today reported to have made fresh proposals to avoid expelling him from the country to stand trial. A spokesman in the office of the Taliban’s supreme ruler, Mullah Mohammad Omar, suggested that the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) send a team to monitor Bin Laden’s movements to ensure he was not engaged in terrorism. Afghan Islamic Press (AIP), an independent news agency, quoted the spokesman as saying the OIC monitors would "watch over him so that Bin Laden’s opponents are sure that he is not using Afghanistan against them". .....more

The situation in Jammu and Kashmir has gone out of control particularly in the post-Kargil period, Pilot said here and demanded immediate steps for the safety of the common people in the State.
