(ORISSA), Nov 1: Food
riots broke out in several parts of Orissa and an IAF
chopper carrying Defence Minister George Fernandes and
two of his ministerial colleagues was attacked today as
the State continued to reel under the devastating impact
of the century’s worst cyclone which may have left
over 3000 dead. As rescue and relief teams
struggled to overcome transport bottlenecks to ferry food
and water to worst-hit coastal areas, IAF airdropped 32
tonnes of food and pouches containing drinking water
meant.......

announced the formation of a National Accountability
Bureau (NAB) to monitor the working of both civil and
military officials, and vowed to rejuvenate the ailing
economy, promised devolution of power and guaranteed
press freedom. Accountability is the demand of everyone

Nov 1: Police today conducted
raids at several places in Punjab and
Himachal Pradesh to nab five people,
including son of a BJP councillor,
charged with an attempt to kidnap film
actress Mamta Kulkarni from a hotel here
on Saturday. District Police Chief
Gurpreet Deo told reporters here that
special police teams had been sent to
different places in search of the five
persons — two of whom posed as
senior police officers in a bid to abduct
the bollywood heroine..........
