Don't distort facts

Sir,

In response to A M Batnagar's article "Shri Krishna hurts millions" published recently in the Daily Excelsior, I agree with the perception of the said writer. There is no denying the fact that the mega serial producer Ramanand Sagar is a very reputed talented and a matured film producer. He has done a commendable job in educating the common masses about the less known religious facts. The serials like Ramayana and Krishna are his super-hit popular serials. As matter of fact Ramanand Sagar has sought the help of all relevent religious historical books and other documents available to prepare the serial. But still unfortunately producer has committed grave mistakes especially in the serial Krishna. Religious based serials are very complicated to produce. A very slight mistake hurts millions and gives birth to controversies etc.

In the Bhagavad Geeta episode the producer has wrongly and unnecessarily introduced Dritrashtre with a bad, harsh, uncivilised and insulting language against Lord Krishna during his conversation with Sanjay. The producer could have avoided this by using soft and cultured language for Dritrashtra.

Ramanand Sagar has committed one more serious mistake in an earlier "Shamsrasur" episode of Krishna. I would like to remind the viewers that in "Shamsasur" episode Shamsrasur sends his powerful "Mayavee" Rakhshe to kill Pradume-Krishna's son. But while the said Rakhshes was in search of Pradume he found Pradume preying deer. He quickly thought upon a plan to reach Pradume. The Rakshes disguished himself as the mother of Pradume who was a bit away from his son. "Mayavee" Rakshes disguised as his mother offered Pradume that she (Rakhshes) will bring the pray (deer) and prepare a good dish for you. But Pradume simply smiled and thus gave his approval or consent to the offer. At this point Pradume was not aware o fthe fact that it was Rakshes (Mayavee) and not his mother. It was at the later stage when his own real mother warned him that the person disguised as your mother is Shamsasur Rakshes and not your mother. Then and there Pradume fights with Rakhshes and kills him.

Here the million dollar questions arise whether Pradume was a non-vegetarian (Masahaari or not). If Pradume was "Shaaka Haari", then why did not be object his mother's (Mayavee) offer angrily or reacted in negative. It has confused and hurt the millions. Is it the mistake of the producer or the fact ? If it is mistake then it is a Himalyan blunder for which Sagar Jee should apologise. It being a fact is unbelievable.

It is hoped that while preparing the religious based serials the producers and the Door Darshan authorities should be extraordinary cautions to avoid any controversy or confusion.

Rlease telephone connection

Sir,

This has reference to the news item ‘J&K Telecom circle announces expansion’ published in your paper dated 18-5-99.

I would like to communicate to Chief General Manager, Telecom, Jammu, that I am languishing in the waiting list under No. 10773 since 1996, for a telephone connection, but, most amazing story is that every alternate day I find great assertions made by telecom department regarding ‘On Demand’ position of telephones in Jammu soon. I would like to remind CGM to kindly clear the waiting list of 1996 first and then make such impracticable assertions. The fresh cables have since been laid, but, pick and choose practice still prevails. On enquiring I am told that there is no feasibility in my area, but, the department claims ‘On Demand’ position, what a puzzle ?

I would request the chief General Manager to help me in releasing my telephone connection so that some credibility is held in aforesaid assertions at least.

Opt for Information Technology

Sir,

The industrial scene in Jammu is quite pathetic with the most of the units in deep red and closure of many sick units. As such the need of hour is to go for an industry which is a sun rise industry and which is less capital intensive.

Information Technology (IT) industry is one such industry.

The low initial investment required for this industry has made it one of the prime industrial units in the country now.

More over, this is the only industry which has been able to show a CAGR of over 50 percent for the last few years inspite of overall industrial gloom in the country.

It is as such the high time that we, too, start this venture in our area to bring the Jammu area on the IT map of country.

The govt. of J&K has to create the necessary infrastructure like communication facilities., power supply to make this a success.

Killings in Kargil

Sir,

It is really distressing to note that Pakistan has indulged in sending hundreds of infiltrators to the Kargil Sector. All the peace talks and "Bus Diplomacy" seems to have gone in vain. I have all praise for the brave Indian Army soldiers who are still protecting our soil at any cost. The current political instability is adding to the unjust breach at the border. Looking at our history, India has never been aggressor in an act of war in the last ten thousand years. India has been invaded lots of times and has always stood its ground. The Hindu culture, Indian values, Indian history, Indian philosophies have all stood the test of time. So, I say to Pakistan and other nations involved in the aggression at the Indian border, to stop this madness, otherwise it may harm & more to Pakistan than India.

Yours etc......
