Piara Singh's concern over plight of border people Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov. 7: Ch. Piara Singh, MLA Gandhinagar has drawn attention of the State Government to the pitiable condition of the people who have been facing the wrath of Pakistan firing continuously for the last two years from Kathua to Planwalla. They have not been able to cultivate their lands and have lost so many precious lives, he said. Their houses and livestock perished in the Pak firing and despite their repeated demands, the State Government has failed to initiate action to rehabilitate them and provide them adequate relief. This is contrary to what has been done by the State Government in respect of people having suffered due to Pak shelling in Kashmir who have been paid Rs. 10,000/- each sufferer family besides the other relief measures. This attitude makes if clear that the State Government is exercising a different yardstick in respect of the people who have suffered in Kashmir and Jammu, he alleged. He demanded that the State Government should be sincere in tackling this problem and make immediate arrangements for the relief and rehabilitation to the people as have fallen victim of the Pakistan firing continuously since long. This is causing a great concern and resentment in the people in Jammu which will ultimately jeopardise peace in this part of the State. |
