India beat Lanka by 3 wickets

SHARJAH. Nov 6: India beat World Champion Sri Lanka by three wickets in the inaugural match of the Coca Cola Cricket tournament here tonight.

Chasing a target of 246 in the stipulated 50 overs, India reached the target in the last over while sparing five deliveries. The winning stroke came from young Ajit Agarkar who hit a magnificent knock of 26 runs in just 12 deliveries.

At one stage, India was losing the grip over the match. However, with the dashing batting of Ajit Agarkar, India registerd the victoy.

From Indian side, skipper Mohd Azhar-u-Din hit the highest score of 94 runs.
