Jammu Gold Cup Football Tourney BSF Srinagar hit all the three goals in second half of the match. During the first half of the match both the sides fought well to each other thus making it a goalless game. But in the second half BSF changed their strategy putting some extra efforts managed to score their first gold within the first 15 minutes. It was Mother Singh (10), who scored two goals, headed the well calculated pass into the goal post from the left side. Lead by a goal, put the Cantt Star under pressure and they could not came out of that. Taking advantage of their one goal lead, BSF Srinagar added another goal in their total, when P Adhikari(23) hit a goal from the right side in the 58th minute. The third and final goal was again hit Mother Singh, from the right side in the last ten minutes of the game. In total 17 teams are taking part in the tournament was declared open by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr S K Mishra, IPS yesterday. The teams included two from BSF, two from Army, besides J&K Forest, J&K Police, Vijay Club, Young Heros, Young Stars and Cantt Star. In the first match, BSF Jammu thrashed Young Christains 5-0. Others, who were present on the inaugural day included messrs BK Magotra, SM Gill, MLC, Ashok Sharma, Honorary treasurer and Jammu and Kashmir Football Association. Besides, Ajaz Qazmi, organising secretary of the club, Shiv Paul Sharma, Bishamber Singh, Yogesh Kohli, Arun Sharma, David Massiah, Harbans Lal and Mohan Lal, A memento was presented to
the chief guest, Mr Mishra by Mr B K Magotra. Mementos

Nischal emerge as all round best in Karate Champ Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 1: Amit Singh Salaria (Budoka) and Nischal Mahajan (youngest girl) emerged as all round best in junior boys open and sub-junior girls categories in the two days 5th All J&K State Karate Championship which concluded here this evening at indoor sports complex, MA Stadium here. The championship was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Karate Association which is affiliated with Traditional Karate Federation of India. Show of quick punch and kicks was there specially in the weight categories of above 50 kg to 66 kg. A good number of players got minor nose and elbow injuries and were given on the spot treatment by their counter parts. Players were so enthusiastic they wanted to fight even after getting injured in their earlier fights. Parents were there to see their wards in action. On the concluding day, Minister for Food, Supplies and Transport, Mr Ajay Sadhotra was the chief guest and distributed medals among the winners and runners up. Later, Minister was honoured with memento by the chairman of the association, Mr Omkar Singh. General secretary of the association, Er O R Katoch presented vote of thanks. In girls category there was only one match was played in the weight category of 51 to 55kg today, wherein Neha Jalali got gold, while Sona Sethi won silver medal. Final results: BOYS Sub-junior 19 to 21kg : Mandeep Singh, gold, Anil Kumar, silver, while Ajay Sagar Jain and Neel Ashish got bronze medals. 25 to 27kg: Neeraj Sharma, gold, Jatin Gupta, silver, while, Anchal Sharma and Abhay Partap Singh got bronze medals. 28 to 30kg: Nitin Kapoor Gold, Tarminder Singh, silver, while, Param Preet Singh and Rupinder Singh got bronze medals. 31 to 33kg: Gundeep Singh, gold, Pardeep Kumar, silver, while Rajan Koul and Sumit Pal got bronze medals. 31 to 35kg: Pawan Kumar, gold, Varun Gupta, silver and Anil Sharma bronze. Junior 31 to 35kg: Pawan, gold, Varun Gupta, silver and Anil Sharma bronze. 36 to 40kg: Raman Gupta, gold, Deepak Choudhary, silver, while, Vikran Singh and Harish Sharma got bronze medals. 41 to 45kg: Sanjeev Pal, gold, Akhil Gupta, silver, while, Vinod Kumar and Amarjeet Singh got bronze medals. 46 to 50kg: Gursharan Singh, gold, Ajay Kapoor, silver, while Sukhdev Singh and Akashdeep Singh got bronze medals. 51 to 55kg: Amit Singh, gold, Bavinder Singh, silver and Varesh Matto, bronze. 56 to 60kg: Ajay Kumar Sharma, gold, Sumit Bhat, silver, while, Amit K Sharma and Rishi Patto got bronze medals. 61 to 65kg: Sahil Gupta, gold, Naresh Kumar, silver, and Vishal Dabgota, bronze. Senior 41 to 45kg: Sonu, gold, Amit Kumar, silver and Sohan Lal, bronze. 45 to 50kg: Ravi Kant, gold, Shammi Kumar, silver, while, Hardev Singh and Kuljeet Singh got bronze medals. 51 to 51kg: Devinder Dogra, gold, Rakesh Kumar and Kamal Thapa, silver, while, Bhajan Dass got silver medal. 56 to 60kg: Vishal Dogra, gold, Gulshan Kumar, silver, while, Sonu Mehra and Kuldeep Kumar got bronze medals. 61 to 65kg: Ravi Kumar, gold, Ravi Mohinder, silver and Rajiv Bakshi, bronze. 66 to 70kg: Arun Mohinder, gold, Vishal Dogra, silver and Manminder Singh, bronze. 71 and above: Sumit Singh, gold and Ashwani Chadha got silver. |
