Registrar of Company office computerised Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 15: Mr L M Gupta, Regional Director, Company Affair, inaugurated the computerisation of Registrar of Companies office located in Trikuta Nagar here today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gupta said that with computerisation, there will be speed, efficiency and accuracy in the functioning is compiling data from different public Ltd. and private Ltd. companies and providing the information to the share holders, registration of a company and allotting it a name promptly. He stated that the Registrar of Company office at Jammu has been linked with all the 18 such other offices in the country. Mr Manmohan Juneja, Registrar, Company Affairs, Jammu disclosed that there are nearly 1600 companies in the State and introduction of computers will facilitate speeding up of work. Of the 1600 odd companies, 200 are public Ltd and 1400 private Ltd. Each and every company has to file vital data with the Registrar office, set up under Ministry of Law, Justice and Company Affairs, it keeps an eye on their financial status and also provide this information on demand to the share holders or investors. Mr Juneja said that in future this office would accept floppy from the company for feeding the data in the computers. It used to take long time in registration, allotment of name of a new company but now with computerisation there will be efficiency and accuracy. The system will become more transparent to gain the confidence of the investors, which is vital for the economy. Mr A K Aggarwal, Technical Director, National Informatics centre, Jammu attended the simple function. Among others present at the function were Mr Joginder Singh, Mr K B Sharma, Mr Vijay Saraf, Mr Umesh Gupta and a number of Cost Accountants and Company Secretaries. |
Aslam warns Pak to desist from abetting terrorism Excelsior Correspondent DODA, Dec 15: Pradesh Congress Committee president Choudhary Mohd Aslam today warned Pakistan to desist from aiding and abetting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir State. As per a release addressing a series of public meetings held at Gandoh, Batyas and Khara in this district, Ch Aslam said Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and will remain so for centuries to come. He asked Pakistan to desist from its nefarious designs and stop pushing in militants to communalise the situation in the State. Mr Aslam accused the National Conference Government of camouflaging situation and misleading Central Government and people of the country by providing wrong information about the situation. He believed that Jammu and Kashmir is eating every vitals of the country because of the policy pursued by the Government. The PCC chief asked party workers and leaders to work unitedly to foil nefarious designs of anti-national elements. He exhorted them to highlight the misdeeds of the NC Government and strengthen the party at all levels. He said all development works have come to a standstill and unemployment was on the rise. He demanded that unemployed youth of the State should be adjusted in Government Departments as promised by National Conference Government and till then they should be given some stipend. Speaking at these public meetings leader of Congress Legislature Party Ms Mehbooba Mufti said that N C Government headed by Dr Farooq Abdullah, has failed on all fronts as the administration has failed to attend to the basic requirements of people. She said corruption has been institutionalized in the State by National Conference. She demanded further that Doda district should be declared as Drought Prone Area as famine like conditions have been prevailing there. Senior Congress leader Thakur Balwan Singh speaking at the public meeting at Gandoh asked the people to rise to the occasion and expose the misdeeds of corrupt and inefficient NC Government. He said the Congress with active support of the people will dislodge this corrupt Government. Thakur Balbir Singh MLA Billawar stressed that there was a dire need to educate people wrong-doings of the ruling Government and its leaders, which have been posing threat to the State. Others who spoke included Messrs Bharat Gandhi, Ved Mahajan, Mohd Sharief Niaz, Ghulam Mohd Saroori, Jagdev Singh and Attaullah Khan. |
Rural upliftment essential: CM Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 15: The Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah today said the rural upliftment is essential for the sound development and prosperity of the country. Speaking at a function, held to launch a special drive for generating rural employment, organised by the J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board, here this evening, the Chief Minister said, we must work to fulfil the dream of Mahtma Gandhi by focusing our attention to the speedy development of villages. Prosperity of villages will have a bearing on the overall progress of the nation, he added. The Chief Minister urged the KVIB to bring under the coverage the unemployed rural youth especially women who could supplement their family income by setting up of rural-oriented industrial units. The State has no dearth of raw material and the schemes should be tailored as per the availability of the local raw material, he said. Dr Abdullah expressed happiness over the setting up of a packing material unit with local grass as its main raw material in Jammu suburb and said this could be used as an alternate to the polythene which is a health hazard and kills animal. He asked the KVIB to make a pilot project on this which could be introduced to other States as well. He called for setting up of eco-friendly industrial units and said the Government would provide all assistance for the promotion of cottage and rural industries. He also referred to the Pattoo unit at Pampore in Kashmir valley and said, its produce has received much acclaim over the years. The Chief Minister hoped that the entrepreneurs would utilize the subsidy and the loans provided for setting up of industrial units judiciously and work for increasing the productivity. He stressed the need for developing an industrial culture and asked the youth to stand up on their own legs instead of looking towards the Government for jobs. Dr Abdullah regretted that even after 50 years of independence, some areas are deprived of adequate drinking water and electricity. While stressing the need for generating more power, describing it as a primary need for development, he pointed to the colossal damages caused to the forest wealth. He said green gold has fallen prey to human greed and referred to the frequent forest fires as a result of negligence. He sought people's cooperation in the development effort and sterring the State to all round development. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman J&K KVIB Mr G N Naik, while giving the resume of its activities, said that Rs 10.75 crores have been loaned for setting up of income generating units in the State during the past two years of present Government against just Rs 1.45 crores during 1994-95 and 1995-96. He said, the Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission has assured of sufficient resources for generating 80,000 employments during the next five years under Khadi and Village Industries sector. Later, the Chief Minister handed over cheques of subsidy to the beneficiaries who have set up various income generating units in some districts of Jammu region. The Minister for Industries & Commerce, Mr Bodh Raj Bali and several legislators were present on the occasion. |
Shah stresses for modern road communication system Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 15: The Minister for R&B, Mr Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah has urged the need for development of a modern road communication system in Jammu and Kashmir State having a unique mosaic of variegated geographical topography and varied terrain. Addressing the international Express-highway Congress, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee at New Delhi, yesterday, Mr Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah said that comprehensive and well knit road communication was imperative for rapid socio-economic development of the J&K State. The Minister stressed the need for building a dependable road link between the Kashmir and rest of the country. This, he said, was all the more important for the Valley and Ladakh for these regions of the State being deprived of railway communication. The Congress which is being organised by the Surface Transport Ministry, Government of India, would have a thread-bare deliberations on Modernisation of Highways and Construction of 7,000 kms proposed, East West Expressway Corridor. The inaugural session of the Conference where the Works Minister, Mr Ghulam Mohi-ud-Shah represented the Jammu and Kashmir State, and pin-pointed various aspects of development of highways to facilitate plying of modern locomotives and ensuring the safe and speedy journey by roads, was also attended by Ministers of Roads and Bridges from various States of the country. Mr Shah said that the Jammu and Kashmir State has embarked upon a comprehensive Roads and Bridges Development Programme aimed at linking all the villages with Highways to give boost to economic activities and uplift the lot of poor people in backward and far off areas. He said we have a stupendous task of rebuilding the 400 odd major and minor bridges gutted during militancy. He said, the Central Government has to come in a big way to help the State in rebuilding the Road Communication System in the State and constructing the alternate Srinagar-Jammu Highway to lessen inconvenience to people of Valley and Ladakh. He said in this regard a preliminary reconnaissance has already been conducted by an agency from Austria and the length of proposed alternate Highway will be 80 to 90 kms less than the existing one and journey time will be reduced by about four hours, he added. The Union Surface Transport Minister, Mr M Thambi Durai, presented a momentoe to Mr Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, the State Works Minister for delivering a thought provoking speech in the inaugural session. The Chief Engineers of R&B Kashmir and Jammu divisions and the Director of designs, are participating the Technical Session of the Congress which is scheduled to conclude on 17th of December, 1998. |
