9 held with 2 guns, 13 licenses

JAMMU,  Feb 8: With the arrest of nine persons along with two weapons (.12 bore guns), Sunderbani police in district Rajouri has busted a racket  involved in  making fake gun licenses  and recovered 13 such  licenses from their possession.
Official sources said that acting on a  specific information, SHO Sunderbani, Surinder Singh conducted raid at a local hotel  at Sunderbani town last night and arrested  nine persons, all hailing from Kalakote area and recovered two . 12 bore guns along with a dozen cartridges from them.
Those arrested accused were identified as Mohd Shakoor, Mohd Hussain, Mohd Kaneez, Vijay Kumar, Subhash Kumar, Bhushan Singh, Billu Ram, Ramesh Singh and Subhash Chander,  hailing from Mathiani and its adjoining hamlets in tehsil Kalakote. The police registered a case FIR  No. 12/ 2017 against them under Sections 420/465/468/471/120-B RPC and 3/25 Arms Act  them.
SSP, Rajouri, Suleman Choudhary  when contacted said that the gun licenses recovered from the possession of arrested persons were got verified from the concerned authorities here and they found to be fake.  He said that two .12 bore guns were also recovered from them along with some cartridges.
Replying to a question, the SSP said that some people detained could be the part of the racket making fake gun licenses. They have been placed under sustained interrogation.  A racket of making fake gun licenses has come to light and some more arrests and recoveries of such license are expected shortly.  He said that police was working on all the angles. It is also surprising that all these persons hail from Kalakote area. The investigation was in progress, he added.
