JAMMU: A total of 8,587 accused people were arrested during the six-month-long unrest in the Valley and out of which 8,473 have been released till January 22, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti told Legislative Assembly today.
She was replying to the ‘Cut Motion’ by National Conference MLA Mohammad Akbar Lone in the House.
Mehbooba said that “76 civilians”, including two police personnel, were killed during the “recent law and order situation in the Kashmir valley”.
Around 522 persons were detained under the J&K Public Safety Act as on January 21, out of them 257 have been released, she said. (AGENCIES)
