82 kg poppy straw, 800 gms charas seized; 2 nabbed

JAMMU, Apr 2: The police seized a truck along with 82 kgs of poppy straw being smuggled to Punjab from Kashmir via Mughal Road in Poonch while a ration dealer was arrested along with 800 gmas of charas and some bukki in Darhal area of Rajouri today.
Official sources said that despite restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles by IG Traffic, J&K on Mughal Road till April 15, 2018, Surankote police  party  today led by SI Sukhbir Singh, under the supervision of SHO Surankote, Anzir Mir,  during naka at Behramgalla on Mughal  Road at around 12 noon, intercepted a truck No. HR-55/ 3756 and during search recovered three bags filled with poppy straw (Bukki). The police seized the contraband material weighing  82 kg and arrested its driver.  Click here to watch video
He has been identified as Padrath Singh, son of Amrik Singh, resident of Jabowal in Amritsar. He was on way from Kashmir to Punjab. The police also seized the truck and registered a case FIR  No. 36/ 2018 in this connection. Further, investigation was in progress. SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey has lauded the efforts of the police naka party.
Meanwhile, the police arrested a ration dealer at village Pargal in Darhal and recovered 800 gms of charas and 710 gms poppy straw from his ration outlet. The accused has been identified as Mohd Sharief Choudhary, son of  Roshan Din, resident of the same area. A case FIR No. 18/ 2018 has been registered against him.
