80% employees attended duty during unrest: Govt

JAMMU, Jan 27:     Minister for R&B and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri today claimed that around 80% attendance of the employees in Civil Secretariat at Srinagar was recorded during Kashmir unrest.
Replying to  a question of BJP   Member Surinder Mohan Ambardar in the Upper House today, the Minister said that around 80 % attendance of the employees in Civil Secretariat  and nearly  55% in other Government offices of rural areas was recorded during   unrest in Kashmir valley during 2016.
The Minister said through the constant efforts of the Government, the attendance of the employees gradually improved and reached to the normal level.
He said, notwithstanding the difficulties, the employees of various Government departments attended their duties and losses suffered during the period of unrest cannot be attributed to them.
Responding to another question, he said the recovery on account of fees, receipts etc in the Revenue Department got affected as the general public could not come forward during the unrest period.    He however, claimed that the revenue was later recovered after finding improvement in situation,  as such no loss on this  account was observed.
