MENDHAR, Jan 2: Eight persons were injured after a Maruti van skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Mendhar area today.
The mishap took place when the vehicle No. JK02AX/8224 was on its way to Mendhar from Balakote this evening. They had gone to condole the death of their relative. When they were returning, their van went out of control and fell into a gorge, just 10 kms short of Mendhar. All the eight injured were shifted to SDH Mendhar where five seriously injured were referred to GMC Jammu.
They were identified as Sarpanch Shabir Ahmed from Suiyan, Shaheen Akhtar, Sazia Akhtar, Famida Akhtar and teacher Mohd Azeem Khan, all hailing from Suiyan in Mendhar. The police has taken cognizance.
