JAMMU, Oct 19: Seventh annual conference of JK Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India with theme of “Surgico-Ethical Issue in 21st Century” started with great pomp and show in Government Medical College (GMC), here
The chief guest, Dr Dilip Gode, president, Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), along with guest of honour, Dr HL Hoswami (former Prinicpal, GMC Jammu and member of J&K Public Service Commission) inaugurated the live operative workshop wherein advanced laparoscopic surgeries were being performed.
Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhasin, organizing secretary of the conference, while deliberating on the module of the conference told reporters that it is a three-day long mega surgico-academic event wherein on first day some advanced laparoscopic surgeries are being performed by some eminent nationally and internationally renowned surgical faculty including Prof Tamonas Choudhary, Dr Kaplesh Jani, Dr Rajinder Parsad, Dr Muneer Khan, Dr RK Chrungoo, Dr Nisar A Chowdri and Dr BS Pathania, assisted by Dr MR Attri, Dr Mushtaq Chalkoo and others.
Dr NC Digra, while deliberating further on the conference, said that on second day there guest faculty lectures and panel discussions by eminent faculty from the State and outside. Similarly, on third day there shall be postgraduate teaching programmes as well as panel discussion on trauma management.
Dr Fazl Q Parray (chairman, JAKASI) said that for last 8 years or so JK Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India (JAKASI) is holding such conferences as well as outreach surgical programmes in the periphery also. He said in last 8 years, probably this is the biggest event that shall last for three days.
Dr Dilip Gode and Dr HL Goswami, while speaking on the occasion, asked the young doctors to cope up with growing technology as well as practice ethical behavior while dealing with ailing mankind because they (doctors) are considered as next to God on earth.
