SRINAGAR, Jan 22: State Board of School Education (BOSE) today declared results of Class 12th examinations that were held last year despite unrest in the Kashmir Division and over 75% candidates have qualified these exams.
According to figures released by BOSE, a total of 53159 candidates had appeared in the secondary examinations and out of these, 40119 have passed. Among 40119 qualified candidates, 21586 are male and 18533 are females. The pass percentage of this year’s secondary examinations stand at 75.47%, which is significantly better than past as 57.19 pass percentage was recorded in 2015 session and 55.18% in 2014 session.
In the wake of unrest, the BOSE had given 50 percent open choice in the syllabus for the students who had appeared last year in the annual examinations. For those students who were not ready to appear in examinations last year, the BOSE has already announced that it will hold separate examinations with no choice in syllabus in March this year.
The figures released by BOSE reveal that 6849 have bagged distinctions (over 370 marks), 9809 first division, 4322 second division and 595 third division. Similarly, 6306 girls have bagged distinctions, 8261 first division, 3535 second division and 429 third division. The figures show that out of 28 physically disabled candidates who appeared in the exams, 21 have qualified and three of them have bagged distinction, 12 first division, 5 second division and one third division.
The BOSE has, however, not revealed who has topped the exams as other candidates are yet to appear for the secondary examinations scheduled in March this year. Pertinently, the BOSE also didn’t name position holders of Class 10th examinations announced recently as similar pattern was adopted in it also.
