7 students, driver injured as vehicle plunges into gorge

RAMBAN, Feb 7: Eight persons including seven students received injuries, when the Innova car they were traveling in, plunged into Bisleri nallah after colliding head-on with Tavera car near Silyard Sherbibi area in tehsil Banihal, today.
As per police sources, a Innova car bearing registration number JK01X-8012 which was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, plunged into Bisleri nallah, when a speedily driven Tavera car bearing registration number JK16-0827 hit it near Silyard Sherbibi, resulting into injuries to eight persons including seven students traveling in the Innova car.
After getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. All the injured were rushed to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal in police and other vehicles, where their condition was stated to be stable, when reports last came in.
The injured have been identified as Gulzar Ahmed (driver) of Srinagar, Jameid, son of Mohammad Maqbol of Chadora, Kashmir, Javed Ahmed, son of Sarfraz of Sopore, Mohammad Hanief, son of Mohammad Sadiq of Bemina, Srinagar, Bilal, son of Mohammad Rafiq Lone of Bandipora, Kashish Qureshi, daughter of Nazir Ahmed of Batmallo, Srinagar, Nazra, daughter of Abdul Khaliq of Shopian and Nazahat, daughter of Azad Wani of Sopore.
The Tavera car has been seized and the driver was also arrested by the police.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Banihal police station and investigation started.
