7 fined for smoking in public places

JAMMU, Sept 22: A team comprising of Food Safety Officers and Drug Inspectors of Drugs and Food Control Organization carried out a special drive for securing compliance of Section 4 of the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 here today.
The team found 7 persons smoking in public places in the area of Residency Road  and realized Rs 1200 from the defaulters as fine.
The Controller, Drugs and Food Control Organization has appealed the people not to smoke at public places and also advised the vendors indulging in sale of cigarettes or other tobacco products not to sell these products to a person below the age of eighteen years and in the area within a radius of 100 yards of any educational institution.
