6th Sub Jr NZ Sport Climbing C’ship on Sept 12-13

JAMMU, Aug 14: The 6th Sub Junior North Zone Sport Climbing Championship for boys and girls will be conducted by Mountaineering Association of J&K at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, here on September 12 and 13, 2018. About 250 climbers from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand besides the host J&K are expected to participate in the 2-day championship.
Since it is a Sub Junior Zonal championship only those climbers, both boys and girls, born in 2005 & 2006 are eligible to compete in the competitions which will be conducted both in Lead and Speed climbing. However, to give exposure to budding climbers of the state the organizers have now also included the Mini category, both for boys and girls (born in 2007, 2008 and after), for lead climbing only.
The competitions will be conducted strictly as per IFSC rules and only fresh international standard climbing equipment will be used.
The championship carries a total prize money of Rs.40000 which will be distributed equally between boys and girls in the Sub Junior category. However, winners of the mini boys and girls categories will also be honored suitably.
The Championship is being organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
