60 kanal forest land retrieved in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Aug 29:  The Forest Department officials retrieved nearly 60 kanals of  Government land which had been illegally grabbed by three villagers at Paghyalta under Udhampur Forest Division.
Official sources said that Forest team led by Range Officer, Udhampur  Sanjeev Sharma, assisted by some Panchayat members organised operation to clear this grabbed land at Phagyalta in Hartian block, falling in Compartment No. 44/U of Udhampur Division. DFO Udhampur, Harmohinder Singh was supervising this operation.
During this anti-encroachment drive,  nearly sixty kanals of forest area,  grabbed by Paras Ram, son of Phagtu; Madan Lal, son of  Des Raj and Bansi Lal, son of  Des Raj, residents of Phagyalta, was cleared in two days’ operation under the guidance of  Conservator of Forests, East Circle, Jammu,  B M Sharma. He also directed to the concerned DFO to get this cleared area fenced shortly and ask field staff to keep close watch on the retrieved forest area to prevent any re-grabbing attempt.
