6 bovine animals killed as truck turns turtle

KATHUA, Mar 18: Six bovine animals which were transported from Punjab to J&K died after a truck bearing registration number JK0AU5569 turned turtle at Rajbagh today.
The truck was being chased by police and the driver in his bid to accelerate the speed and give a slip to the police lost control over steering with the result the vehicle turned turtle resulting into death of six animals out of 11 bovines being carried in the vehicle.
The driver of the truck and his associates managed to escape in another vehicle which was giving cover to them.
The Rajbagh Police has registered a case under section 188 RPC and other relevant laws. The police has seized the truck and other bovine animals and started investigation.
Meanwhile police rescued six bovine animals from a Canter bearing registration number JK02AA-7405 which was on its way from Punjab to J&K after police chased it upto Hatli Morh from Berian Pattan falling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kathua.
Police said during a naka late last night a police party of PS Kathua led by SHO Sarabjeet Singh laid down a naka at Berian Pattan under the supervision of S S Sambyal, Dy SP Headquarters, Kathua and on the directives of SSP, Kathua Pawan Parihar . The Police party intercepted the canter which was on way from Punjab to the State of J&K.
It said the driver was signaled to stop at the naka but he accelerated the speed and managed to break the naka and fled away. Subsequently another naka was established at Hatli Morh and the vehicle was seized. However the driver and his associates involved in smuggling of bovine animals managed to escape. On checking police found six bovine animals in the vehicle. In this regard a case FIR No 85/2017 U/S 188 RPC , 3/5 PC Act stands registered at P/S Kathua and investigation started.
