Samba Dry Port

Sir,
This is in reference to your editorial titled ” Samba Dry Port ” (Excelsior 13.2.2018) . The Dry Port in Samba will create hundreds of jobs in Jammu. Now exporters from J&K will not have to rely upon the forwarding agents in Mumbai , Gujarat or Kolkatta but the job will be done in Samba and Ompora Kashmir itself. The  two dry ports will come up with first ever Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Jammu & Kashmir state. Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu has done a commendable job by creating an atmosphere wherein world renowned Dubai Ports World group(D P World) has agreed to invest Rs 5000 Crores in J&K in the next 5 years. Out of this amount Rs 1500 Crore would be invested in the first phase. Now people associated with handicrafts , agriculture and horticulture will not rely on arathis of Delhi or Mumbai as they can directly export their products like R S Pora Basmati , Kashmiri apple to middle east and Europe. All the formalities of customs and other things would be taken up at Dry Ports itself. Bhasoli painting will get exposed to international market in bulk. Kashmiri handicraft items will have more demand in international market. More and more entrepreneurs will shift to export business. To ensure better market to our products , we have to make sure that our goods are of great quality so that they meet the international standards…….
Yours etc…..
