586 road projects of Rs 3556 cr submitted to Centre under PMGSY Phase-X for approval: Veeri

SRINAGAR, June 28: Minister for R&B, Abdul Rehman Veeri today informed the House that 235 kms road length have been blacktopped in various districts of the State so far during current financial year. He said the targets fixed for blacktopping of road length in the districts are expected to be achieved in coming months subject to weather conditions and response from the bidders etc.
Replying to a question by Shakti Raj Parihar, the Minister said that no new road project has been sanctioned under NABARD and Central Road Fund during current fiscal. He said, however, the projects sanctioned under CRF and NABARD during last financial year have been taken for execution during current financial year.
The Minister said construction of 146.50 mtr span steel girder bridge over River Chenab at Shava Dal Doda has been taken up for execution at a cost of Rs. 15.87 crore against which Rs. 6.08 crore have been released so far. He said the work of the bridge is apace and would be completed by June 2017 subject to the availability of funds.
The Minister said that construction of Sports Stadium Doda has been taken up for execution at a cost of Rs. 4.73 crore against which Rs. 3.29 crore have been released so far. He said six  sitting tiers including drainage work around stadium stand completed and providing of chain link fencing in between tiers and pavilion also stands completed. He said the project would be completed once the balance funds amounting to Rs.1.44 crore are available.
The Minister said that construction work on Doda-Bharth road has been executed to the extent of Rs. 1.91 crore. He said, however, no expenditure has been made on this road so far. He said the present status of the road is blacktopped 11.80 kms, matelled 3.50 km and shingled 3.50 km.
The Minister also gave details of the road projects with financial involvement taken under PMGSY Phase-I in Doda constituency. He said a proposal for 586 road schemes at an estimated cost of Rs. 3556.59 crore has been submitted to Union Ministry of Rural Development under PMGSY Phase-X. He said these proposals were discussed during the meeting of Empowered Committee of Union Ministry of Rural Development held at New Delhi recently. He said sanction to these projects is expected soon after the meeting of Empowered Committee.
