This has reference to the news item ‘CM directs for ultra-modern public transport facilities’ DE Oct 14.
Keeping in view the deplorable condition of public transport in the State, the Chief Minister seems to be very much concerned about it. There is urgent need to make roads much safe going by the increasing graph of accidents on roads. There is not a single day when two or three road accidents are not reported. These accidents take place due to a number of reasons which include rash driving by motorists, bad condition of roads, and apathy of Traffic Department.
The people are indulging in rash driving caring two hoots for the safety of other citizens. Since there is no respect for traffic rules, hardly few abide by them. This is not sufficient to have a safe traffic system. Unless every one abides by rules and regulations, the traffic system will never improve. Rather, it will worsen day by day.
The Chief Minister has rightly asked for a synergised approach between Transport Department, Traffic Police and Municipal authorities. It is expected that necessary steps are take in this direction by the concerned authorities.
