SRINAGAR, Nov 1: More than 55,000 students today appeared in annual regular exams of class 12th conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) in Kashmir Division.
Incharge Joint Secretary, Examinations, Syed Abdul Rouf told Excelsior that 55,100 candidates were expected to turn up for the secondary exams at 496 exam centres across Kashmir Division. “Barring some two-three students, all the candidates appeared in the exams for first paper which was General English,” he said.
The senior BOSE official said the examination today passed off peacefully and smoothly and there were no complaints of copying from anywhere. “We have had made all the arrangements for smooth conduct of the examination. We did not allow students to go inside exam centres with mobile phones. The Education Minister was himself monitoring the exam process,” he said.
Rouf said that the annual exams of class 10th would commence from tomorrow in Kashmir Division and similar arrangements are in place for that as well. On Tuesday, District Administration Srinagar issued magisterial orders imposing prohibitory restrictions under Section 144 CrPc within a radius of 200 meters around examination centres of the district for smooth conduct of annual regular secondary and higher secondary school examinations.
