50 bovine animals rescued

JAMMU, July 14: Police today foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling at Udhampur-Reasi districts and rescued 50 animals besides arresting the accused
During a routine checking at Jakhani Police naka by the Police party, headed by SHO Udhampur, two trucks were intercepted. The trucks, bearing numbers JK05E/4571 and JK03B/8887 were on way to Srinagar and had been carrying 40 bovine animals, which were rescued by the Police.
Drivers of both the trucks, identified as Mohd Shafi Mir of Nusra, District Barramulla and Altaf Mohd of Gantmulla, District Barramulla, were arrested on the spot. Police also seized the trucks and registered a case in this regard at Police Station Udhampur.
Reports from Chassana in Mahore district said that acting on specific information, a police team rescued 10 bovine animals, which were being smuggled to Kashmir. Police also arrested the accused smuggler, identified as Mushtaq Shah of Cheethal, Chassana and registered a case FIR No. 38/2017 U/S 188 RPC at P/S Chassana.
