5 killed, 7 injured in mishaps

Srinagar, Aug 23: Five persons including a father-son duo were killed and over half dozen injured in three separate road mishaps in North Kashmir today.
In a tragic road accident in Karnah area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today, a father and his two-year-old son were among three persons killed.
The slain man’s wife and brother were among injured and being treated in the hospital. The dead man belonged to Cherkote village in Vilgam belt of Kupwara.
Bilal Ahmad who was driving the family in his car to a hospital had a head-on collision with a Sumo in the border town of Tanghdar. Bilal and his minor son Sheeza died on the spot.
All others who were in the car were seriously injured. They include Bilal’s wife Misbah who survived with a serious fracture in her leg, parents Ghulam Hassan, Rafiqa and his brother Tanveer Ahmad. The injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
Simran daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Malik, who was injured in the accident, also succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. The driver of Sumo, Zahoor Ahmad was also injured. Police said they have registered a case and the investigation has started.
And a person was killed and two others injured after a bike met with an accident in Drugmulla area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district last night.
A speedy bike (JK09-4035) overturned near Darsgah Gulshan Qasmia in Drugmulla at around 9:40 pm. The biker Mohammad Sayeed Pir of Warnow, Lolab died on the spot while two pillion riders were injured. The injured were taken to Kupwara hospital for treatment.
A 22 year old girl died after she fell from a mortor cycle at Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
A 22 year old girl was critically injured after she fell from a motor cycle and was rushed to Sub-district hospital Sopore where the doctors declared her brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Saima Bano, 22, daughter of Ghulam Nabi resident of Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla.
