5 injured in post-polling violence in Sunderbani, one arrested

RAJOURI, Nov 30: The police arrested a person and booked about a dozen others for an incident of scuffle after peaceful culmination of polling and counting process of Panchayat elections in fifth phase in Sunderbani on late Thursday evening.
A police official said that a complaint at least five persons were injured during clash while one person has been arrested in this connection so far. The others are absconding.
He said a complaint was received from one Rakesh Sharma, son of Ram Lal, a resident of Talla Tanda in Sunderbani area in which he stated that he along with others was returning home after counting of votes and when he reached home, one Vikas Sharma and five others tress- passed into his house with criminal intention and preparation and attacked upon him and other family members. Due to attack five members of the family received injuries. He alleged that the assailants also damaged the vehicles parked in front of his house.
Taking cognizance, police registered a case FIR No. 121/18 under section 147, 452, 323, 427 RPC in Sunderbani Police Station.
The police team headed by SHO Sunderbani, Romal Singh under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera, Khaliq Hussain raided a number of locations and arrested one accused namely- Vikram Sharma, son of Jatinder Sharma alias Jaggu, resident of Talla Tanda.
He claimed that the Police team was conducting raids at other suspected locations to nab other culprits who indulged in the post-voting violence. The SSP Rajouri, Yougal Manhas has directed the officers dealing with the case to ensure earliest arrest of all the accused.
