SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Police today said it have arrested five gamblers and recovered stake money from their possession in Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A police spokesman said that on a tip off, the cops raided a gambling place near Nippora in Qazigund and arrested five gamblers identified as Ghulam Hassan Khanday, Shabir Ahmed Khanday, Majid Ahmed Khanday, Irfaan Ahmed Teli and Reshpal Singh.
He said the police recovered a stake money of rupees 6470 and a bundle of playing cards on the spot.
“All the accused were arrested and a case FIR number 194/2015 under section 13 Gambling Act has been registered against them in Police Station Qazigund,” the police spokesman added.
