SAMBA, June 12: As a part of continuous drive against the menace of the drugs, District Police Samba today arrested three drug peddlers and seized over four kgs poppy straw from them.
A police party of Police Station, Vijaypur in close co-ordination with District Special Branch (DSB) Samba carried out an operation at Vijaypur near Rahya Morh in which three drug peddlers namely, Gulshan Sharma S/o Bansi Lal R/o Randwal Ghagwal, Rohit Singh S/o Narinder Singh R/o Sanoora Ghagwal and Rameshwar Singh S/o Yashpal Singh R/o Sanoora Ghagwal were arrested and about 1kg150 gms of poppy straw (bhukki) was recovered from them.
In this connection a case FIR 83/2018 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at PS Vijaypur. The truck (dumper) bearing Registration No JK02BW/8204 which was being used for transportation has also been seized.
The operations was carried out by the Police team headed by Inspector, Suraj Pathania, SHO P/S Vijaypur under the direct supervision of S. Baljeet Singh, SDPO Vijaypur on the directives of SSP Samba Anil Magotra.
Meanwhile DSB Team Bari-Brahmana and Ramgarh apprehended two persons namely Bashir Ahmed S / o Ali Mohammad R / o Kokarnag , Anantnag and Majida Bibi W / o Anwar R / o Burma and recovered 2kg 400 gm Poppy straw (Bukki) from them. They were handed over to P / S Bari-Brahmana which has stated the investigation. The Police has also registered a case under NDPS Act against them.
