5-day Janmashtami celebrations begin

JAMMU, Sept 1: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga, Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi, MLA Sat Sharma and senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi attended Janmashtami celebrations at Shakti Nagar, here today.
The grand festivities which began today with Sandya Aarti would continue for five days and culminate on 5th September. The function has been organised by the Utsav Celebrations Committee.
Prominent religious scholar Swami Dinesh Bharti also delivered religious sermons on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Chander Parkash said the celebrations mark the birth of Lord Krishna and all over the country the occasion is celebrated as Krishna Janmashtami. He said the festivities are jointly attended by people from all faiths and represent the composite culture of the land.
Priya lauded the efforts of the organisers and called upon the people to follow the path shown by Lord Krishna, adding that in the GEETA the Lord has shown the world a righteous path of living and pursuing path of duty with utmost faith and dedication.
Yudhvir Sethi called for grand celebrations to mark the birth of Lord Krishna. He said such occasion should be celebrated by involving people from all faiths as it spreads the message of love, peace and mutual co-existence in the society.
