JAMMU, Feb 19: Three days 4th J&K State Handball Championship, being organized by J&K Handball Association at Jammu in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council concluded at MA Stadium, here today.
State BJP President, MLA Sat Sharma was the chief Guest on the valedictory function, who gave away the winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes, while Dr SM Bali, CEO Handball Federation of India was the guest of honour.
While appreciating the efforts of the Association, Sat Sharma said the state is rich in sports talent and sportsmen from the state have proven their mettle at different national and international Championships, adding that proper nurturing by the JKHA goes a long way in promoting the talent at different levels.
Earlier General Secretary of the J&K Handball Association, Ashwani Kumar Raina welcomed the distinguished guests and presented a brief note on the Championship.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ranjit Singh (Selector Handball Federation of India), Krishan Lal Treasurer and Mohammed Ashraf Parray (Joint Secretary).
The final match in men’s section was played between STC and District Jammu in which District Jammu defeated STC by 31-16. The main scorer in District Jammu was Rahul who scored 11goals, while in the final match in women’s section, Jammu Red defeated Udhampur by 19-3. The main scorer for Jammu Red was Kashish Baru who scored 9 goals.
The matches were officiated by Gaurav Sharma, Vikram Dogra,Chander Shekhar, Bhawana and Kartar Dogra.
