JAMMU, Oct 8: The 4th 11 Sports Interschool Table Tennis Championships got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
The Championships were declared open by Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer (J), J&K State Sports Council.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ravi encouraged the young paddlers of the state to perform well and give their hundred percent. He threw light on the importance of games and sports in the present era.
Meanwhile, in Sub Junior Girls Team QFs,
DPS beat Model Academy 3-0, Heritage defeated Jodhamal Public School 3-1, Presentation Convent trounced KC International School 3-1, while in Sub Junior Boys Team QFs, Jodhamal Public School got the better of Doon International School 3-2, GD Goenka drubbed Heritage School 3-0, DPS defeated Jammu Sanskriti School 3-1 and KC International prevailed over KC Public School 3-1.
In Junior Girls Team QFs, GD Goenka outplayed Model Academy 3-1, KC Public lost to its rival 3-2, Heritage School defeated HSS Dori Degger 3-1 and DPS outclassed KC International School 3-2.
In Junior Boys Team QFs, Jodhamal Public School defeated Heritage 3-1, KC International trounced DPS 3-0, APS Domana outplayed KC Public 3-1 and KV No-1 trounced their rival 3-0.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra and Sanjeev Gupta.
The matches were officiated by Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra (NIS Table Tennis coach), Gurvinder Singh Sasan (NIS Coach), Meenu Rajesh, Asad Sharma (Coach), Manandeep Singh, Ritvik Gupta, Ketan and Anuj.
