Exhibitors fleece Bahubali audiences

VIJAYAWADA:  The film lovers alleged that the exhibitors of Bahubali film are fleecing the audiences taking advantage of their enthusiasm to watch the film on the first day on April 28.

The Bahubali part two, the conclusion, created an unprecedented hype among the cine buffs. The production of film and creation of graphics were the talk of the state in any city or town. The film Bahubali has created enormous curiosity not only among common men but also Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who mentioned the name of Kattappa, who kills the hero in the part one, while addressing a public meeting few days ago.

The Bahubali Telugu version is being released tomorrow. There are allegations from movie lovers that the multiplex theaters hiked the ticket price exorbitantly.

The multiplex theaters are selling combo pack tickets, fixing each ticket at Rs.500 to 700. A samosa, a popcorn packet and a small water bottle will be given along with the combo tickets. If the four member family wants to watch the Babubali, it has to spent Rs.2000 to Rs.3000 besides exorbitantly hiked parking fee, V Gopala Rao deplored at City Trendz multiplex here.

Interestingly, other theaters also hiked ticket price for Babubali. Rs.70 ticket is hiked to 100, Rs 90 ticket hiked to 150. The theatre owners are citing court permission for hiking the ticket rates. There are four multiplex theaters in the city and they are vying in fleecing the audience, taking advantage of their enthusiasm to watch the film on the first day.

The exhibitors are also playing benefit show tonight at various theaters for which the ticket price was pegged at Rs.2,000. Corporate companies have booked tickets in bulk, a cine lover Madhu alleged. Serpentine queues were seen for advance tickets at many theatres. Interestingly the ticket rates for the film were hiked in America also. A group of Telugu people in North Carolina said on video linkage that they shocked to find the exorbitant hike of ticket price their too.

The Bahubali mania spread such an extent that a gas dealer announced a free Babubali cinema ticket, if gas connection is taken under Deepam scheme in Guntur. An exhibitor, B Prasad said that Bahubali film is being released in 9000 theaters across the world tomorrow and 6,500 in India.

Meanwhile, massive arrangements are being made by the fans of Prabhas, the hero of the Babubali film to celebrate the gala release. Massive flexi banners and cutouts are being erected in various towns in West Godavari district, which the native district of the hero. A massive bike rally would be taken out tomorrow on the occasion of the release of Babubali, in which MLA Madhava Naidu would participate, Prabash fans association president Ch.
