Apropos to your editorial “Illegal immigration” DE Mar 12, 2017. The editorial is very informative regarding settlement of illegal migrant Rohingyas and Burmese in Jammu and Samba. On the advisory of Home Ministry, Govt has already started enquiry about their illegal entry into the State. Let us hope the facts will be brought to light and corrective measures taken.
But most shocking part of this editorial is when refugees who migrated from Muzaffarabad (Now POJK) have been equated with West Pakistan refugees which reflect ignorance of media. Muzaffarabad is a part of J&K State and those who migrated due to tribal raid on State in 1947 are legitimate subjects of this State whereas WP refugees are not. The refugees/DPs from PoK i.e from Muzaffarabad, Poonch and Mirpur Districts, are as bonafide State Subjects as anybody else living in the State for generation.
