Economy grows strongly even after notes ban: Jaitley

NEW DELHI, Mar 2:  Taking Congress party head on over demonetisation drive, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said the economy has grown strongly post announcement of notes ban on November 8, 2016.

Talking to reporters, Mr Jaitley said, “An environment of chaos was created that the Indian economy would go down. But the data shows that it has grown significantly.”

He also said that the Congress party wasn’t happy with the campaign and it seems they have gone into despondency mode.

Justifying the banning of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the minister added that the government wanted to formalize the economy. “We want to bring informal economy into formal one.”  (UNI)
