UDHAMPUR, Dec 27: 40th Computer Point District Udham-pur Open Chess Championship 2016 concluded with an impressive closing and prize distribution ceremony, here today.
This year Chess Tournament attracted tremendous response from young & budding players.
The event was conducted by District Udhampur Chess Association under the Aegis of All J&K State Chess Association, affiliated to All India Chess Feder-ation.
All matches were played under International FIDE rules.
Talented players participated in this grand battle across the table for the title in all categories of both male and female
In the valedictory programme, Aman Kalsotra, Director Computer Point Technologies distributed prizes among the winners.
In female category, young Champion and title holder of State, Shivanshi who is eight year old and student of Kendriya Vidhalya No. 1 Udhampur again proved her mettle and claimed 40th Computer Point Technol-ogies Open Women Chess Champion Title-2016. She secured Champions Trophy apart from gold medal for her effort and voluntary contribution to promote chess among youngsters, while Shabnam got runners-up title trophy for magnificent game.
In female under school category, Renu  emerged Champion while Shikha won runners-up title.
In Male Open Category, Ravinder Atri proved his extraordinary champion skills and was crowned with Computer Point Men’s Open Chess Champion Title-2016 while Madhav Sharma remained on second position.
In Under School Category, Rashiv Khajuria, student of Govt M.L. Higher Secondary School Boys Udhampur gave tough competition to other competitor and secured 1st position in Under 18 category apart from also compete for open challenge chess title and remained runners-up and was awarded with gold medal for his performance also.
Vijay Singh, Sudhir Khajuria, Pooja and Simran were also awarded with mementoes for their contribution as arbiter in the whole tournament, while Rahul Sharma was also honoured for excellent service as tournament secretary.
