40-member J&K delegation meets Union Ministers

JAMMU, Jan 13:  A delegation from J&K, comprising 40 members led by former Minister and  Dogra Sadar Sabha (J&K) president, Gulchain Singh Charak met various Union Ministers including Defence Minister, AK Antony and  Information & Broadcasting, Manish Tiwari at New Delhi and took up various issues pertaining to the condition of people in border areas of Jammu province  and launch of full-fledged Duggar Channel from here.
Talking to media-persons today after arriving from Delhi here, DSS president Mr Charak said that their meeting remained quite satisfactory and they utilized their time properly in projecting issues with the Central Ministers.  He disclosed that during meeting with the Defence Minister, they apprised the Minister of the frequent incidents of heavy firing from across the border. It was revealed that people in border areas of Jammu province particularly, Samba, Bishnah and RS Pura were living in panic.
Mr Charak said the delegation urged upon the Central leadership to take final decision for the allotment of 5 marlas plots at some safer places to the people of border areas as promised and ensure proper arrangements for shifting the people when the need arises. He said they also raised voice for giving compensation to farmers whose agricultural land either fall between zero line and actual fencing on the Indo Pak border, or which is occupied by the forces.
The delegation, which comprised of Capt Harshvardhan, Madan Lal Bhagat, Jaswant Lal, Waryam Chand, Uttam Singh, Baldev Raj, representatives from Doordarshan Approved Artists Association and others, also met Union Minister for Culture, Chandresh Kumari Katoach, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, RPN Singh, Treasurer-AICC, Moti  Lal Vora, general secretary AICC and In charge J&K Affairs, Ambika Soni and former Sadar-e-Reyasat, Dr Karan Singh.
Demand with regard to starting of full-fledged “Duggar Channel” from DDK Jammu was also forcefully put-forth before the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Manish Tiwari. This was second meeting with   Mr Tiwari. It was projected that launch of Duggar Channel was must for countering the false and mischievous  propaganda unleashed by Pakistani channels along the border areas of Jammu region.
Other issues which were taken up by the delegation with concerned Union Ministers includes special recruitment drive and package for the youth of border areas, who are unable to get proper education due to the frequent disturbances on the border, creating infrastructure for sports and other activities in the area, issuance of ALC certificates to border people, establishment of a degree college at Arnia in Bishnah tehsil etc. The concerned Ministers and the officials of the Ministries assured the delegation that their demands will be favourably considered.
