40 bovines with 8 vehicles seized, all drivers flee

RAJOURI, Oct 22: Foiling separate bovine smuggling bids across the district, the police has rescued forty bovines from the clutches of smugglers.
Official sources said that the team headed by SHO Darhal, Habib Pathan under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Iftikar Chowdhary intercepted the movement of three vehicles JK11C-6430, JK11A -1398 and JK11C -6432 loaded with bovine animals and drivers were signalled to stop the vehicles.
However, the drivers escaped from the spot along with vehicles towards Soker Gali and then moved towards Palma Peeri area.
The Police team chased the vehicles and later found the vehicles parked on roadside as drivers escaped from the spot after taking advantage of darkness. Fourteen bovines were rescued by police team and vehicles were seized. Cognizance of the matter has been taken and police has lodged two FIRs in this connection .
Similarly, today morning at about 04:30 AM, an information was received that five Tata Mobiles are on way to Rajouri from Nowshera side on highway after they broke a police Naka.
A team of police headed by SHO Rajouri Ajaz Haider under the supervision of DySP HQ Govind Rattan laid nakas on highway. Three vehicles were found parked on highway at Bathuni and two others at some distance in same village. These vehicles include JK11B-4649, JK11B -4673, JK11B -4669, JK11B -4663 and JK03E -4887. 26 bovine animals were found loaded in these vehicles which have been rescued. The police, however, claimed that all the drivers and smugglers managed to escape.
