4 drug peddlers arrested with cannabis, poppy straw

UDHAMPUR, Sept 17: Police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 16.5 kilograms of cannabis from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a joint team from Rehambal Police Station and Tikri Police Post laid a naka at Bansa Chowk and apprehended a drug peddler along with 1.50 kilograms of cannabis.
The arrested person has been identified as Sadiq Hussain, son of Abdul Karim of Sundrani.
A case under FIR Number 132/18 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Rehambal Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, the team also intercepted a Xylo car bearing registration number JK05C-0991 and Innova car bearing registration number PB11BN-3023.
During checking, police recovered 15 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicles and arrested three persons traveling in the vehicles.
The arrested persons have been identified as Javed Ahmed Wani, son of Ghulam Ahmed Wani of Baramulla District, Gurdeep Singh, son of Hazoor Singh of Tral and Mukesh Mukesh Kumar, son of Surinderpal of Jalandhar.
“Javed Ahmed Wani and Gurdeep Singh used to sell the drugs to Mukesh Kumar on regular basis. Mukesh used to sell the consignment among the drug addicts in Punjab” sources said.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Rehambal Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Rehambal Inspector Paramjeet Singh and assisted by Incharge Police Post Tikri Pawan Dogra made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Udhampur Zahid Saif Wani, Additional SP Udhampur Tabussam Parveen and SSP Udhampur Raees Mohammad Bhat.
