4 arrested for smuggling liquor

JAMMU, Apr 15: Tightening its noose on smuggling of liquor and drug peddlers, District Police Kathua has nabbed four persons during two nakas for sale of illicit liquor in the area.
According to Police in continuation to its drive launched by the district Police Kathua to nab the persons indulging in smuggling of illicit liquor, a police party of PS Kathua headed by SHO PS Kathua, Inspector Sarabjeet Singh, on a specific information laid down a naka at Bhagthali and nabbed one person namely Birbal alias Rinka S/o Bachan Lal R/o Chapkara Tehsil and district Gurdaspur Punjab, carrying 40 litres of illicit liquor (Lahan).
In this regard, a case FIR No. 116/2017 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stands registered against him at Police Station Kathua and investigation is in progress.
Besides another naka was laid near Happy Palace, Ward No. 3, Kathua and three persons were intercepted who were on way to Dream Land Park and a large quantity of country made liquor was seized from them.
They included Darshan Singh alias Kaka S/o Khajan Chand R/o Rajbagh, Kathua, Yash Paul S/o Bito Ram R/o Hatli Morh, Kathua, Angrez Chand alias Kaka S/o Des Raj R/o Dhanore, Lakhanpur who were on way from Capt. Sunil Choudhary Chowk towards Dream Land Park, Kathua.
During the search, 75, 60 and 55 pouches of Indian made liquor were recovered from them respectively. In this regard, a case FIR No. 119/2017 U/S 48(A) Excise Act stands registered against them at Police Station Kathua and investigation is in progress.
The whole driver is carried out under the supervision of S.S. Sambyal, DySP Hqrs. Kathua and on the directives of Pawan Parihar, SSP Kathua.
