4 Army jawans killed in mishap, another serious

RAMBAN, Dec 1: In a tragic accident, four Army personnel were killed, while another got seriously injured, when the Maruti Zen car they were traveling in, skidded off the road and plunged into Shaitani Nallah near Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02N-6332 was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into Shaitani Nallah near Banihal this evening at around 6:30 pm, resulting into on the spot death of four Army personnel and serious injuries to another.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and with the help of locals and volunteers evacuated the injured person and shifted him to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, from where he was later referred to 92 Base Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Pawan Kumar of village Bachyaal District Jammu, Vijay Kumar, son of Rattan Lal of Gou Manhasa, Jammu, Om Parkash, son of Badrinath of Sunetar, Tehsil Ramnagar, district Udhampur and Pawan Kumar of village Dhanwal, Tehsil Akhnoor, District Jammu, while the injured has been identified as Joginder Pal of village Bagyal, district Kathua.
All the Army personnel were posted with 162 TA Battalion stationed at Old Airport Srinagar and were coming home on leave.
A case FIR Number 181/17 under Sections 279, 337, 304-A RPC has been registered at Banihal Police Station and investigation started.
