4 out of 11 milk samples tested substandard

JAMMU, Mar 4: Out of 11 samples of milk lifted by Food Control Organization and tested during the current week, four   have been declared substandard.
The prosecution against the defaulters shall be launched in due course of time after following procedure as laid down in the aforesaid Act, said a spokesman of the Organization.
Meanwhile, in order to ensure quality of milk and milk products available to the general public, a team of Food Safety Officers along with Asstt Controller Food (Designated Officer) Municipal Limits Jammu, today carried out surprise inspection of the Food Business operators dealing with such products.
During the inspection, six samples of milk of different categories  and one  sample of curd were lifted from the areas of Canal Road, Pacca Danga, Hanuman Gali, Khilona Wali Gali and Panjtirthi and sent to the Food Testing Laboratory for carrying out analysis/testing.
Moreover all the above said Food Business operators have been directed to procure the milk from registered milk producers and display a board containing the category of the milk on the milk containers for the information of the general public as mandate under the food law.
During inspection one bakery shop namely M/s Laxmi Bakery, Pacca Danga Jammu has been recommended for Challan under section 56 of the FSS Act for carrying out business in unhygienic and insanitary condition.
