3rd Sr Open State Tug of War C’ship gets underway

JAMMU, Jan 3: President Jammu and Kashmir Tug of War Association, Hardeep Singh Anand inaugurated the 3rd Senior Open State Tug-of-War Championship, here today.
In all, 205 players from affiliated Districts, Units, Educational Institutions and Clubs of the Association from Jammu are taking part in the Competitions.
Mr Anand inaugurated the event in a simple  and well attended function which was attend by Jodh Singh Isher, Jasvir Singh, Ravinder Singh and Nirlap Kaur, Principal Unique Public Higher Secondary School.
While  addressing the participants he said that sports is the only medium  through which one  can develop his personality and can remain fit and healthy  which is the need of the hour.
The Championship will conclude tomorrow at Unique Public Higher Secondary School, Gadi Garh, Jammu. In this championship, the players will be selected to participate in the 30th Senior Men National Championships and 15th Senior Federation Men and Women scheduled at Anandpur Shaib from January 13 to January 18, 2018.
Earlier, District Jammu beat District Samba by 2 -0 sets, Unique Sports Gadi Garh defeated Jammu Loins Club by 2-1 sets, District Pulwama drubbed District Budgam by 2-0 sets, District Kathua go the better of District Kulgam by 2-0 sets, District Poonch trounced Diamond Club Satwari by 2-1 sets and Adarsh Club Miransahib outplayed Khalsa Club RS Pura by 2-1 sets.
The matches were officiated by Gaurav Dubey  and Sourabh Kumar.
