Prioritize Basohli tourism
Sir,
The tourists coming to Basohli feel cheated when they don’t find the highly talked about visiting places which either are in disarray or don’t exist at all on the ground. The ruins of the palaces of Basohli, considered as wonderful monument of the east, are  hidden in thorny bushes which one cannot penetrate through without getting the clothes torn and the deep scratches on the body. The way leading to the ruins is so uneven that there is every chance of one’s stumbling. Neither the art museum, nor the pashmina shawl emporium has been started where from the visitors can purchase. The historical water tank has been rendered useless by the agencies claiming for its maintenance.
Though the big RSD lake adds to the beauty of Basohli yet no water games, water restaurants, boat races have been started there.  The highly talked Essal World water games, water sports, dream lands looks like a mirage because the promises made during the elections by our representatives are seldom, made good. Therefore, in order to attract the tourists and maintain and enhance their number, the State Government should prioritize the tourism at Basohli by maintaining and developing heritage and monuments, starting water games and sports, boat races, parasailing, cruise services like the one in the river Tames in London, sky diving, maintain art gallery and pashmina emporium. These games and sports don’t incur much expanses rather they will generate income  to the state exchequer and employment to the youth of the district. Moreover,  some concession/relaxation in the toll tax be granted to the coming tourists otherwise, they park their vehicle on the Punjab side or it in the middle of the Setu to save the money.
Yours etc…
Shiv Kumar Padha
