34 villages of Udhampur declared avoidable blindness free

UDHAMPUR, Oct 11: KLSM Rotary Eye & ENT Hospital Udhampur today declared 34 villages of 4 panchayats namely Hartaryan, Sunari, Kambal Danga and Chak are declared as avoidable blindness free.
This was announced during a function organized in the hospital premises on the eve of World Sight Day 2018. MLA Udhampur, Pawan K Gupta was the chief guest and Global Director Programmes OEU, Kashinath Bhoosnurmath was the guest of honour.
Deputy CMO Udhampur, Dr SD Atri, DN Sharma, Chairman of the Hospital, Rajeev Gupta, president, Rotary Club Udhampur, along with officials of Operation Eyesight Universal, Anup Zimba (Assistant Director), Ex Sarpanch, Sarar Sh Sudesh Chander, members of Rotary Club Udhampur, Rajendra Sanson, VS Raja, Kamal Gupta, Puran Lal Sharma, were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Gupta said, “It is the comprehensive result of the work done by the Rotary Club of Udhampur with support from KLSM Rotary Eye & ENT Hospital Udhampur under the technical guidance by Operation Eyesight Universal. It was the result of the Hospital Based Community Eye Health Project being run by the Rotary Club of Udhampur in Medical Block Chenani. Under this project the beneficiaries suffering from blindness are surveyed, identified and provided treatment to get out of blinding conditions. Under this project, they have so far we declared 115 villages as avoidable blindness free”.
MLA Udhampur in his remarks said that it is a unique initiative taken by the Rotary Club of Udhampur to serve the deserved patients to provide eyesight and assured every possible support at District level to achieve such type of initiatives in future.
