34 PoK companies banned from LoC trade

SRINAGAR, Aug 11: Thirty four companies in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) have been banned from carrying out any trade activity on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road.
Custodian of cross-LoC trade, Sagar D Doifode issued a circular to all traders in Jammu and Kashmir directing them not to enter into any export or import business with the 34 blacklisted companies following joint efforts by authorities of Jammu and Kashmir and PoK to weed out any illegal activity on cross LoC trade routes.
The action comes more than two weeks after police recovered 66.5 kilograms of heroin and brown sugar from a truck coming from PaK at Salamabad Trade Facilitation Centre on July 21.
An order to this effect issued by the Custodian Trade Facilitation Centre Muzaffarabad Sagar D Doifode reads: “…as communicated by the Custodian Trade Facilitation Officer Chakothi vide No. TFO/161-62/2017 Dated 09-08-2017, the Trader Unjum Zaman and his following firms/Companies are banned for trade in and trade out.”
The Custodian has directed the traders in Jammu and Kashmir not to send or receive consignments from the the firms and companies -Jammu and Kashmir International Muzaffarabad, Ahsan Traders Muzaffarabad, Gousia Traders Muzaffarabad, Al-Zafar and Co Muzaffarabad, Sheikh Enterprises Muzaffarabad, Mustaraqa Srinagar Trader Muzaffarabad, Pak-Kashmir Traders Muzaffarabad, Al Awan Traders Muzaffarabad,  Mughal Trader Muzaffarabad, Arif Trader Muzaffarabad, Daun Traders Muzaffarabad,  Sufyan Traders Muzaffarabad,  Star Trading Co Muzaffarabad,   Zee Enterprises Muzaffarabad,  Al-Habib Traders Muzaffarabad, Khawar Traders Muzaffarabad, Farukh Traders Muzaffarabad, Abassi Traders Muzaffarabad, Karwan Traders Muzaffarabad, Irfan and Sons Traders Muzaffarabad, Neelam Traders Muzaffarabad, Chand Traders Muzaffarabad, Kamal Traders Muzaffarabad, Naveed Traders Muzaffarabad, Qureshi Traders Muzaffarabad, Universal Traders Muzaffarabad, Baba Traders Muzaffarabad, Nisar Traders Muzaffarabad, Kashmir Medical Store Muzaffarabad, Med Links Distribution Muzaffarabad, Kyani Traders Muzaffarabad, Stop and Shop Traders Muzaffarabad, Mir Development Sore Muzaffarabad and Rehman and Sons Muzaffarabad.
In the meantime, the Cross-Line of Control (LoC) trade between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, resumed today after remaining suspended since July 21 after narcotics were recovered from a truck at Trade Facilitation Centre Salamabad Uri on July 21.
Today cross-LoC trade resumed and trucks from Salamabad crossed over to the PoK. Similarly, trucks from Chakothi also arrived in Salamabad Trade Centre.
The decision to resume the trade was taken last week after authorities from Kashmir and PoK met at Zero point Aman Setu on the LoC in Uri and decided that the trade stalled after a driver from PoK was arrested for carrying drugs, would be started.
The officials from both the sides had taken several decisions in the meeting for streamlining the trade and prevent the drug trafficking, weapon smuggling and other illegal activities through the trans-LoC trade.
The authorities from both the sides had stressed for carrying out the trade process in a transparent manner and ensuring stringent checks on the traded items.
The PoK authorities had assured the officials from Jammu and Kashmir Government that mechanism would be put in place so as to prevent narcotic and weapon and ammunition smuggling through the LoC trade. They had assured J&K authorities that they are enhancing the security and installing scanners and will intensify the checking so that drugs, weapons, ammunition and other illegal items are not smuggled through the trade.
