KALAKOTE, Aug 19: Pradesh Youth Committee (PYC) has geared up its campaign for seeking implementation of 73rd and 74th Amendments in Panchayati Raj Act.
Wasim Kohli, president, Youth Congress Kalakote assembly along with vice president, general secretaries and NSUI committees submitted memorandum to Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar for handling over the same to the Chief Minister.
While speaking, Wasim Kohli said that Panchayats have limited five-year tenure, but despite a specific provision in the act, the elected sarpanchs/ panchs are yet to receive any honorarium for sitting in Panchayat meetings. He stressed that without making these amendments Panchayats could not be given full powers.
Among others present were Satpal Sharma vice president, Kafeel Ahmed general secretary, Vijender Singh, Bashir Ahmed, Raj Kumar Sharma and Matu Khan.
