Srinagar, May 16: Over 300 displaced Kashmiri Pandits from various parts of the country thronged the shrine of Mata Zeashta Devi here and took part in annual Maha Yagya praying for peace and normalcy in Kashmir.
Set amidst cross-section of Shankaracharya mountain and Zabarvan hills overlooking famous Dal Lake,shrine of Mata Zeashta Devi has become a “transit home” to displaced Kashmiri Pandits visiting Kashmir valley in summers.
A Maha Yagya was solemnized by Zeashta Devi Prabandhak Committee (ZDPC) at the shrine amid chants of mantras, bajans and prayers.
A large number of devotees drawn from different parts of country  participated in the function and paid obeisance to the Goddess. The Maha Yagya started  with the flag hoisting.
“We did not expect such a huge number of the people arriving  this year in view of the situation developing in Kashmir. But over 300  KPs from various parts of the country thronged the shrine to  pay obeisance”, ZDPC President B B Bhat said.
Bhat, who led the KPs to organise annual prayers at the shrine,  said “we prayed for the peace. We prayed to Mata to bless the  community by fulfilling their desire of home coming after stamping out of terrorism”.
Zeshta Devi Prabandik Committee (ZDPC) has two big Yatri Niwas Complex with 30 one-rooms suites, dormitories and 3 room suite hut, besides there are three shops which provide ration, spices and other edible items and special Kashmir loaves.
