Srinagar, Apr 20: Army’s TMG Brigade in North Kashmir’s Handwara area of Kupwara district today organized a ‘youth mela’ in which people of all walks participated.
According to an army official, the mela was conducted for the first time in Nougam area of Handwara.”Around 140 youth participated in a cross country run organised from Army camp to Naugam A Panchayat hall,” he said.
He said at least 300 people from all walks of life participated in the youth mela. “Prizes and certificates were presented to the cross country winners and participants of driving training class. Seven youth leaders were selected from villages of the region who shall represent their villages,” the Army said.
Meanwhile, locals expressed happiness over the holding of youth mela and said that it is encouraging that such constructive events are being held in far-flung areas. “We hope more such events will be held in future as well,” the locals added.
