3 smugglers nabbed in Rajouri, Udhampur; drugs seized

JAMMU, Nov 8: The police today arrested a narcotic smuggler and recovered some quantity of heroin from his possession on National Highway in Rehmbal area while two smugglers were arrested in Rajouri area today.
Official, sources said that police party led by SHO Sanjeev Chib during naka near Kali Mata Temple recovered 6 gms of contraband substance (heroin) from narcotic smuggler. He said during naka checking, police party stopped one motorcycle bearing registration No. JK14 – 8575. During search of said vehicle 6 gms of heroin, was recovered.
He was identified as Aklesh Sharma alias Leshi, son of Vipin Kumar, resident of Opposite SBI Bank, Barrian, Udhampur. He was arrested on the spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 552/2018 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Udhampur against him. Further investigation of the case has been taken up.
Meanwhile, continuing its drive against peddling of contraband drugs in Rajouri, the District police seized alleged contraband powder from the possession of two persons.
During early morning, a police team of Rajouri Police Station along with sleuths of Special Operation Group headed by SHO Rajouri, Ajaz Haider under the supervision of DySP Govind Rattan and DSP Ops Pranav Mahajan, was on routine naka on highway at Muradpur village.
During checking, a car was signalled to stop but driver started to object frisking by cops and tried to resist it which developed suspicion after which cops on duty put the vehicle and the persons to thorough frisking.
During frisking, 40 grams of alleged contraband drugs powder was seized from the vehicle which was kept hidden and two persons travelling in the vehicle were arrested on the spot.
They include Imran Khan, son of Nazir Hussain, resident of Ward No 2, Malik Market Rajouri and Mohammad Mukhtyar, son of Mohammad Yousuf, resident of ward number 4 Rajouri town.
They were travelling in a car JK02AF-0695 from Nowshera towards Rajouri which has also been seized. In this connection a case FIR No. 630/18 under section 8/21/29/60 NDPS Act has been registered.
