JAMMU, Mar 14: Satwari police arrested three hardcore criminals and recovered four sharp edged weapons, 35 grams heroin and Rs 3.80 lakh cash.
This was disclosed by SP South Sandeep Choudhary while interacting with media persons at Satwari police station this afternoon.
Giving details, SP said that a team from Satwari police station laid a naka at cremation ground near Bhour Camp and signaled a motorcycle to stop for checking.
“On seeing police cops, the rider accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased the motorcycle and intercepted it near some distance from the naka point”, SP informed.
During checking, police recovered three sharp edged weapons (tokas), 20 grams heroin and Rs 3.80 lakh cash from the rider and pillion rider and arrested them, SP said, adding that the with the arrest of the accused identified as Rakesh Kumar alias Montu, son of Makhan Lal Sharma and Kamaldeep Singh alias Nickoli, son of Gurbachan Singh, both residents of Ward Number 2, locals are feeling a sigh of relief as both the accused are known drug peddlers and were supplying drugs to youth to make them drug addict.
A case under FIR Number 59/17 under Section 8/21/22/29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered against them at police station Satwari and investigation started.
Both the accused are hardcore criminals and are involved in several criminal cases registered with different police stations of Jammu, SP said, adding that previously Rakesh Kumar was booked under the NDPS Act in the cases registered under FIR Number 184/13 and FIR Number 14/16 under Section 307 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act with police station Satwari, SP Sandeep Choudhary stated.
In another incident, a team from Chatha police post during checking at Hakkal Morh intercepted a person coming from Bhour Camp. The person tried to escape, but the cops nabbed him after a brief chase.
“15 grams heroin and a sharp edged weapon (toka) was recovered from the possession of the person and police arrested him. He has been identified as Mohinder Singh alias Raji, son of Sadhu Singh of Ward Number 2, Bhour Camp”, SP informed.
“The accused is known drug suppliers of the area and was previously also arrested in NDPS Act case by Satwari police and a case under FIR Number 173/16 was registered against him. He was presently on bail”, SP said, adding that a fresh case under FIR Number 60/17 under Section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered against the accused at police station Satwari and investigation started.
Police team led by SI Arun Singh and Incharge Chatha police post SI Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh and SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas.
